The hunt for the lost smile

In Saalbach Hinterglemm, families can expect the story of the clown Montelino, who lost his smile. How it came to this, may be revealed here only briefly: The little clown neglected his friends and toys - so one day all his friends were gone and his toy box was empty. The little clown became terribly sad and lost his smile. Now the help of all children is urgently needed!

The Kohlmaisbahn takes you up to the Kohlmais summit - there the adventure can begin. From the mountain station to the middle station of the Kohlmaisbahn it takes you through the forest and across alpine meadows, where numerous play stations await the whole family. From the spider's web for target throwing, to the giant snake Paula, to the Punch and Judy show. From the squirrel's nest with the golden nut to the giant slide to the circus arena - there is a lot to discover on Montelino's adventure trail! 

With a pure walking time of about 90 minutes on a length of about three kilometers, the mountain experience at Kohlmais is ideal to spend a half to full day with fun and games on the mountain. Alpine huts with special offers for children along the way invite you to take a rest.

The treasure hunt on the mountain

The hunt for the goblin Kodok starts at the ticket office of the Reiterkogelbahn valley station, where the children receive an adventure pass in which the solutions that arise along the adventure trail are entered.

The aim of the adventure trail is to get back Montelino the clown, who is the "good soul" of the mountain and with his magic cap ensures happiness, joy and good weather, his cap, which the sinister goblin Kodok has stolen from the clown and hidden well in a secret place. Only with a good dose of courage can the children manage to solve the ten riddles, crack the code to the secret magic word, defeat the goblin and recover the cap.
 
Once at the top of the mountain, a circular trail of around 1.8 km takes the young hikers into the magical fantasy world of the goblin Kodok. Motor skills, brains and courage are challenged at the numerous play stations such as "The Sad Rocks", "The Dark Gorge" or "The Secret Message" along the natural path. And along the way, you can learn about the laws of physics in a playful way with parabolic communication or mirror riddles

Once all the stations have been successfully mastered, a blackboard at the end of the path converts the character codes into a magic word. The correct magic word frees the magic hat. Back at the valley station, all successful treasure hunters receive a cap sticker as a symbolic award for their heroic efforts, which they stick into their adventure passport.

At Kohlmais, kids can experience the feeding of wild animals live. Very close to nature you get into the cycles of life and the environment. Because here the deer are fed daily between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. at the game enclosure above the Panorama Alm. There is also an oversized walk-in deer. That sounds exciting!

The climbing tower in Hinterglemm is perfect for sport climbers and those who want to become one. The tower is located right next to the road by the sports center and therefore can not be overlooked. It offers many routes in all possible degrees of difficulty for young and old. Here you can earn your first climbing spurs under expert supervision, of course well secured on the rope, but also difficult routes with overhang for advanced climbers can be completed. So if you want to start your first climbing attempts, you can already train for the rock here. But there is also challenging terrain for experts.

The hiking trail can be reached via the Talschluss hiking trail about 10 min. from the Lindlingalm. As a perfect introduction to the hiking vacation, the hiking trail brings parents and children closer to the flora and fauna of the Glemmtal and gives practical tips and instructions on the topics of dangers, equipment, food and drink, but also environmentally friendly behavior in the mountains. The hiking trail is one of 6 parts of the Kids Wander Challenge.

A highlight in the region for over 35 years, the fairy tale trail is located about 1 km after the center of Hinterglemm and can not only be walked all year round, but is also a particularly romantic walk in the evening thanks to the new lighting. As another trail of the Kids Wander Challenge in any case a "must" for families, the lovingly designed facility delights with a particularly charming excursion into the world of princesses, dwarfs and fairies.

"Flying high" experience large and small high-flyers with the Mega Flying Fox in Saalbach Hinterglemm with 2 x Flying Fox with a total length of 1.5 km. The Escape Trail is a sensually exciting adventure trail for guests aged 12 and over, offering a varied mix of scavenger hunt and puzzle rally. The Kids Wander Challenge is the ultimate challenge for all young hikers. There are 6 hikes to complete in and around Saalbach: Hiking trail, Baumzipfelweg, fairy tale forest, summit Zwölferkogel (is with 1-2 hours comparatively long and is demanding - surefootedness!), summit Schattberg (also is comparatively long with 1-2 hours and is demanding - surefootedness), Motorikweg. Kids On Bike is the initiative in Saalbach to promote young bikers and future bike pros.
