Feel freedom in the biggest ski area in Austria

Freeride paradise of Saalbach Hinterglemm

Powder in the "Home of Lässig"

The Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn ski area doesn’t just provide no end of piste fun, on 270 kilometres of tracked pistes, it is also a real paradise for freeriders. Several individual sections are available in the ski area for beginners and pros alike. Leaving behind those first tracks in the fresh powder snow is a feeling of boundless freedom.

Since the amalgamation of Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn to create one ski area  there is a wealth of freeride runs and different ski runs to suit every ability level. There are also several Freeride Parks, information points along with a Freeride educational trail. Since have basic equipment is the utmost priority when heading off the secured pistes, you can check your avalanche transceiver in the avalanche search field to ensure it is in working order. All other items of equipment are available to hire, or they may be purchased in one of the sports shops – from probes to shovels, through to a helmet or avalanche rucksack.

Every year Saalbach is also the venue for TOP freeride events, in which the world’s elite in Freeride sport participate regularly. This includes the Freeride World Tour and Freeride Testival, Europe’s biggest Freeride Test Event.

Freeride Specials

Discovering a challenge and adrenaline and also the best track in the back country area – the Freeride Skicircus in the heart of the mountains in Pinzgau provides this, at its best. We recommend the following specials in the ski area for ambitious freeriders:

  • Die Freeride Lodge in Spielberghaus: Spielberghaus at 1311 m altitude is only accessible on skis or by snow groomer and is the ideal base for a start into unforgettable freeride fun. The "Amsel run" on the Bernkogel is a real insider tip for off-piste fans.
  • There is also the best powder snow and fantastic runs on the Schattberg at 2200 m in the middle of the Kitzbühel Alps. There is a superb freeride run beneath the gondola, which is one of the easier lines in the ski area.
